February’s Closing Tip is to inform us immediately if any parties to a transaction are involved in divorce proceedings.
We must take extra steps to follow court orders in a divorce proceeding. If we are informed at the beginning of the transaction, we should have ample time to address any issues that may arise due to the divorce proceedings. The closing table is not the place for the title company to learn of a divorce between parties to the transaction. If we don’t have this critical information until closing, it could delay closing. UTitle wishes to be sensitive to the divorce proceedings and make it as fluid as possible for all involved. Let’s work together on getting your transaction closed timely by providing this information at the time the contract is receipted.
