Customer Service Center

Jennifer Price

Jennifer Price is the Customer Service Center Manager at University Title Company. Born in North Carolina, Jennifer lived in California before making her home in Texas. Her title insurance experience began in Burleson County, where she also worked for the County Clerk. Jennifer has held several positions at University Title since she began her career here in 2002. Married to John Price in 1993, she enjoys spending time with her daughter and son and supporting their extracurricular activities.

The Customer Service Center is located at the front of the University Title Company office. The receptionist mans the meet and greet area in the lobby, where she directs clients to the Triage Counter, closing rooms or Hoelscher, Lipsey, & Elmore, P.C. Checks and documents being picked-up from University Title Company are located, here.

The Triage Division of University Title opens all orders. Whether the sales contract or order is delivered personally, faxed, emailed or called-in, these ladies complete as much information as possible to eliminate questions or issues that may prevent or delay closing.

Telephone calls are answered by the Call Center staff. Three staff members work diligently to answer all calls promptly and direct customers to the appropriate person who can assist them.

Courier services are another important part of the Customer Service Center. This division of UTC picks up contracts, delivers title commitments, commission checks and payoffs. Arrangements for any of these services may be made by placing a phone call to University Title or emailing a staff member.

Dawn Bowers

Dawn Bowers is the Client Relationships Manager at University Title Company. Dawn is a Brazos Valley native and 2004 graduate of Texas A&M University. She began her career at University Title as the Closing Coordinator. Then she served as the Customer Advocate for 11 years before moving to her current position. She currently serves on the Community Projects, Attendance and Hospitality, Education and Walk with Pride Committees for the Bryan-College Station Regional Association of REALTORS®. For the Bryan-College Station Home Builders Association, Dawn is a member of the Home Expo Committee, the Membership Committee and both Golf Tournament Committees. She chairs the Community Service Committee and co-chairs the Builder/REALTOR® Committee. Dawn is proud to be an individual member of the Texas Land Title Association, and she is an active member of the Young Title Professionals Committee and the chair of the Communications & Marketing Committee. Dawn is honored to be the recipient of the Bryan-College Station Regional Association of REALTORS® Affiliate of the Year in 2002 and 2003, the Bryan-College Station Home Builders Association Associate of the Year in 2004, 2006-2008 and Emeritus in 2009 and Rotary Club of College Station’s VIVA Award. Dawn is married to Brad Bowers, and they enjoy raising their two active daughters.

Marketing completes the services found in the Customer Service Center. Representatives are available to serve as liaisons between the valued customers of the company and its employees. This department may also answer any questions about Closing Tracker or direct customers to the correct staff member.

Title Production

Joe M. Poteet is the Title Production Manager for University Title Company. He is a native of Normangee, Texas, and a 1980 graduate of Baylor Law School. In 1982 he joined University Title Company after practicing law in Waco for two years. In addition to overseeing plant maintenance, Joe supervises all staff of the title production department, abstracts new subdivisions, approves legal documents, and examines many guaranty files.

Title Production is a team of Title Abstractors and Examiners. This department completes the title run, interprets the information which affects the title and reports the findings from their research in a title commitment, which is provided to all parties to the transaction. Surveys are reviewed and approved in this section of the company, and any curative items are handled here, as well. Finally, data entry clerks input recorded information into the University Title Company plant so that each title search is accurate and complete.

Closing Services

Kary Mersmann is Closing Services Manager for University Title Company. She moved to Texas when her Army officer father was stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio and never left. Kary graduated from Texas A&M University in 1980 with a B.B.A. in Management. She joined University Title Company in 1992 and has been an escrow officer for the past 15 years. She recently became a Certified Escrow Settlement Associate designated by the Texas Land Title Association for extensive escrow experience and knowledge. She is active in the community having received the Rotary Club’s VIVA Award in 2008 and is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Bryan-College Station, Inc. Kary, along with her husband, Larry, has raised 2 children and loves to travel.

The staff members in Closing Services prepare to close, close and fund all transactions. Closing Services is comprised of four closing teams, each made up of four members, and Escrow Support Services. Mortgage payoffs, insurance, inspections, loan instructions, closing paperwork, and bills for any repairs or services performed to the property are directed to Closing Services. With all of the information, a settlement statement is completed and provided to all transaction participants. The buyers, sellers, their REALTORS, lenders, attorneys and builders all meet the Escrow Officer at closing. Closings are typically scheduled Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on the hour. However, University Title Company can make special arrangements to accommodate your needs. After closing, Closing Servies provides any information required for funding to the lender. Upon receipt of funds, these employees issue checks and record legal documents at the Brazos County Courthouse.

Post Closing

Steven Van Buren

Steven Van Buren is the Post Closing Manager at University Title Company. Steven was born in South Carolina, but spent his childhood moving every couple of years as his father was in the Air Force.  After graduating from high school in Turkey, he moved back to Texas for college and graduated from Texas A&M University in 2006.  Steven began working for University Title Company in 2003 while still a student.  He has done almost every job in the Post Closing department in addition to working as a Title Examiner for over a year.

The Post Closing personnel type title policies and issue them with the legal documents that accompany them. A quality control check is also done in this division of University Title. Upon completion, all pertinent documents in the files are scanned for ease in providing these documents to University Title Company customers.

Administration

This department handles all aspects of the company required to keep the doors open, bills paid, employees content and regulators satisfied. Within this group is accounting, systems management, human resources, equipment and supplies. Their task is to make sure the rest of the departments have what they need to do their jobs.
